The questions to ask every wedding vendor before you book
Five questions that cut through the sales pitch and tell you whether a vendor is right for your day.

Booking a wedding vendor is mostly about trust. These five questions surface the things that actually matter — and how someone answers tells you as much as what they say.
1. “Have you worked at our venue before?”
Not a dealbreaker if they haven’t, but vendors who know your venue already know the light, the load-in, and the quirks. If they haven’t, ask whether they’ll visit beforehand.
2. “What happens if you’re sick on the day?”
Every professional should have a clear answer — a backup, a network, a plan. A blank look here is the real red flag.
3. “What does the timeline look like from your side?”
Good vendors think in run sheets. Hearing how they’d structure your day shows you they’ve done this before and will keep things moving.
4. “What’s not included?”
Travel, overtime, editing, delivery, extra hours. Get the exclusions in writing now, not in an invoice later.
5. “Can we see a full, recent example — start to finish?”
Highlight reels are easy. Ask to see one complete wedding from this year so you know what you’ll actually receive.
A vendor who answers these calmly and specifically is a vendor who’s done it many times. That’s exactly who you want.
